Aaron Leroy Winters

Montevideo

Aaron Winters, of Montevideo, died on Monday, August 2, 2004 at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 76.

Funeral service will be conducted on Friday, August 6, 2004 at 10:30 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald McKee officiating.  Interment will be in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening and with the family from 5 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Aaron LeRoy Winters was born on February 22, 1928 in Mitchell, South Dakota to Harry and Minerva (Rudisill) Winters.   He grew up in South Dakota and served in the in the U.S. Navy from 1950-1954.  On January 18, 1958 he was united in marriage to Ginger Birhanzl at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  They lived in rural Montevideo until moving into Montevideo in 1977.  He worked for the Chippewa Co. Highway Department for many years before retiring in 1990.  He was a member of the American Legion Post in Montevideo and
enjoyed working on old cars, gardening, watching westerns on television, Twins baseball games, traveling, playing cards and dice, fishing, garage sales, and especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by children:  Scott Winters of Watson, MN;  Julie Martin of Palm Bay Fl; Jeff Winters of Belleview, FL; Allen Winters and his wife Shari of Mora, MN, and Tammy Slowey and her husband Mike of Montevideo, MN; ten grandchildren:  Dustin Martin, Heather and Justin Winters, Brianna Winters, Michael, Corey,  Matthew and Courtney Winters and Danial and Cassandra Slowey; two sisters: Darlene Clark of Danube, MN. and Alvera Clark of Young America, MN; a brother, Harold Winters of Montevideo as well as by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ginger in 1982; and by one brother: Wilbur Winters.
