Adelaide Skeie, formerly of Watson, Mn. died at Greeley Health Care Center in Stillwater, Mn. on Saturday May 21, 1994 at the age of 87. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday May 25 at 1: 30 PM at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Norman Aronson officiating. Burial will be in the Cloverleaf Memorial Park in Willmar, Mn. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening and with the family from 7-8 pm at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Adelaide Janet (Croonquist) Skeie was born on June 10, 1906 in Kandiyohi Co.,Mn. to Frank and Hannah Croonquist. She was baptized and confirmed at Tripolis Lutheran Church and grew up on the family farm. After graduating from Atwater High School, she attended St. Cloud State Teacher s College and taught in rural Kandiyohi Co. for 6 years. On September 19, 1931 she was united in marriage to Walter (Jerry) Skeie of New London, and they moved to Montevideo, Mn. In 1943 they moved to Watson, Mn. She taught elementary school in Lac Qui PArle Village for 2 years and in Watson where she was the teaching principal for almost two decades. She was involved in church and community activities including the Watson Improvement Club. She taught Sunday School and vacation Bible School at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo and belonged to the Dorcas circle. In 1987 she moved to Margaret Place, a retirement complex in Coon Rapids, Mn. She has lived the past two years at the Greeley Healthcare Center in Stillwater, Mn.
She is survived by a son - Bruce (Joan) Skeie of Coon Rapids, Mn. and by a daughter - Marlene (Ted) Kakaliouras of Stillwater, Mn.; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and by a brother - Ralph (Gudrun) Croonquist of Kandiyohi, Mn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Walter in 1983; by brothers - Ferdie, George, and Frank Croonquist; and by sisters - Melvina Johnson; Myrtle Larson; Edna Hutchinson; and Stella Hedstrom.
