Adolph Gustafson, of Rt. 3 Appleton, died on Thursday September 26, 1996 at his home at the age of 87.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday September 28, 1996 at 1:30 PM at the Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Appleton with Rev. Vern Jenson officiating. Burial will be in the Appleton Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Adolph Franklin Gustafson was born on January 28, 1909 in Stoney Run Township of Yellow Medicine County, MN, the son of Alfred and Alice (Gustafson) Gustafson. He was baptized and confirmed at Strombeck Lutheran Church and attended rural schools. He was united in marriage to Signe Bjorgan on April 9, 1944 at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo. They farmed on his home farm in Yellow Medicine County for 6 years before moving to Edison Township in Swift County, where he farmed and lived for the past 46 years. He was a member of the Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Appleton and especially enjoyed mowing his lawn, family picnics, and working for the Green Thumb Program.
He is survived by his wife, Signe; three sons: Roger Gustafson and his wife Linda of Milan, MN, Ronald Gustafson and his wife Lois of Appleton, MN, and Tom Gustafson and his wife Cheryl of Hutchinson, MN; one daughter, Linda Sandbakken and her husband Harlan of Montevideo, MN; one son-in-law, Duane Powell of Appleton, MN; 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one brother, Harry Gustafson of Montevideo, MN; and two sisters: Helen Arneson and her husband Sivert of Montevideo, MN and Adeline Teichert and her husband Vernon of Morgan, MN.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Susan Powell in 1977; four brothers: Ernest, Chester, Walter and Roy Gustafson; and one sister, Bernice Arneson.
