Agnes (Greseth) Boraas

March 3, 1912 — March 15, 2015

Agnes Boraas, of Appleton, MN (formerly of Dawson), died Sunday, March 15, 2015 at the Appleton Hospital at the age of 103.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church, rural Dawson, MN.  Rev. Bruce Bringle will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held for one hour before the services at the church.

Agnes Juella (Greseth) Boraas was born March 3, 1912 at home in Cerro Gordo Township, Lac qui Parle County, MN the daughter of Peter and Gina (Johnson) Greseth.  She was baptized and confirmed at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church.  Agnes attended rural school and graduated from Madison Normal College.  She was united in marriage with Omar Boraas March 20, 1930 at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church.  They farmed in Cerro Gordo Township.  Omar died July 6, 1977.  Agnes moved into Dawson in 1982, to Montevideo in 1997, and to Appleton in 2004.  She was very active at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church, was a member of Ladies Aid, Farm Bureau, and Sewing Circle.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, bird watching, ceramics, traveling, and entertaining.

She is survived by her children: Gloria Kleven of Montevideo, MN, Anna Mae (Chris) Nissen of Appleton, MN, Kenneth (Ruth Myhres) Boraas of Madison, MN, and Betty Peterson of Madison, MN; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; a brother, Phil Greseth of Dawson, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Omar; sons-in-law: Keith Steinle, Vern Kleven, and Vance Peterson; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Boraas; and a granddaughter, Charlene Lund.
