Agnes C (Olson) Carlson

March 31, 1916 — February 4, 2014

Agnes C. Carlson, of Dawson, died on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson at the age of 97.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 1:30 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with Pastor Kendall Stelter and Pastor John Guthridge officiating.  Interment will be in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Agnes Caroline (Olson) Carlson was born March 31, 1916 in Emerson, NE to Elmer and Ida (Kuno) Olson.  She was baptized on May 26, 1916 at the Mission Church in Wakefield, NE.  She moved to Minnesota with her parents in 1925 and was confirmed on June 29, 1930 from the Mission Covenant Church in Dawson, MN.  Agnes was united in marriage to Elmer Carlson in Granite Falls, MN on June 16, 1935.  She worked at Tommy’s Café and the nursing home as a nurse’s aid, before managing the Co-op Café.  Agnes was a long- time member of the Home Makers Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and Grace Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed volunteering in various ways, entertaining family and friends, quilting and sewing.

Agnes is survived by three children: Earl Carlson (Shirley) of Mesa, Arizona; Irene Kawamura of Bloomington, MN; and Paul Carlson (Margaret) of Elkins, WV: 11 grandchildren, Earl John Carlson (Lynn), Vance Carlson (Shari),Tammy Dandurand (Brad), Pamela Ess, Debra Wilstermann, Stephanie Ripley, Elizabeth Carlson-Scott, Sondra Carlson, Paul Carlson Jr. (Kelly), John Carlson, Lindy Carlson (Fiancé Rhett Northstead); 10 great-grandchildren: Nick Carlson (Fiancee Meghan), Kayla Carlson, Jake Carlson, Alyssa Carlson, Austin Carlson, Preston Dandurand, Paxton Dandurand, Peighton Dandurand, Sequoiah Nelson, and Georgie Scott; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Carlson; a son Curtis Carlson; her parents, Elmer and Ida Olson; and by two brothers, Vernon and Mauritz Olson.
