Agnes Dvergsten

Agnes Dvergsten, formerly of Watson, died on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at the Clara City Care Center at the age of 91. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Watson Lutheran Church in Watson with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Agnes (Jerve) Dvergsten was born on September 5, 1917 in Big Bend Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Anton and Rachel (Thompson) Jerve, one of eleven children. She was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church and attended rural schools. She moved to Montevideo and worked at the creamery for her sister Carrie and at Stamson's Cafe. On October 6, 1940 she was united in marriage to Harold Dvergsten in Montevideo. They lived on the Dvergsten homestead until moving into Montevideo in 1985. She became a resident of the Clara City Care Center in 2000 following hip surgery. She was a member of Watson Lutheran Church and was involved with Sunday School and church youth groups. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, Improvement Club and Homemakers. She enjoyed her home and getting to Trailways every day to meet friends. Agnes was often asked to bring her baked beans, scalloped potatoes and Apple Pie to functions. She is survived by two children: Paul ( and Sonya) Dvergsten of Watson and Jayne (and Doug) Jarett of Clara City, MN; seven grandchildren: Rachel Dvergsten and Maria (Calin) Eisenlohr of Montevideo, Ana Dvergsten of Plymouth, MN; Paul (Joni) Jarett of Rochester, MN; Aaron (Sara) Jarett of Bovey, MN; Nathan (Cassandra) Jarett of Mankato, MN and Sarah Jarett of Clara City, MN: six great grandchildren: Rylee Jensen, Grayson and Lilyana Eisenlohr, all of Montevideo; Tanya Lamb and Nevada and Kyra Jarett of Bovey, MN and Andrew Jarett of Rochester, MN; sisters-in-law: Bernice Jerve, Violet Jerve and Glenda Dvergsten, all of Montevideo, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold in 1982; four sisters: Lillian Larson, Carrie Lauritsen, Marlys Skogrand and Tilla Schuerer and by six brothers: Gerhard, Thosten, Sherman, Julian , Roland (Bud), and Rueben Jerve.
