Agnes Erickson, of Dawson, died Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 84.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Pastor Kendall Stelter will officiate and interment will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 21 from 5-7:00 PM at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 PM.
Agnes Louise (Nyberg) Erickson was born October 7, 1929 at Boyd, MN the daughter of Harold and Borghild (Neraason) Nyberg. She graduated from Madison High School in 1947. Agnes was united in marriage with Lester Erickson on August 8, 1949 at Riverside Lutheran Church in Dawson. They were blessed with four children: Steven, Judy, Scott, and Tamara.
Agnes was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She put her family first and enjoyed making meals and baking goodies for those she loved. Agnes was blessed with a caring church family, wonderful neighbors and friends, and a coffee group that brightened her days. She was the family historian and kept a journal for the past twenty years. Agnes was an excellent seamstress in her day, and in recent years she embroidered adorable dish towel sets.
Agnes is survived by three children: Judy (Allan) Larson of Hill City, SD, Scott (Terri Hurkes) Erickson of Watertown, SD, and Tamara (Michael) Murphy of Southampton, NY; three grandchildren: Christopher Larson, Todd (Shelly) Larson, Jourdan (special friend, Jesse Torgeson) Erickson; nine great-grandchildren: Ryan, Blake, Brooke, Jake, Charlie, Matthew, Mason, Chandler, and Chastin; a sister-in-law, Alyce Olson of Madison; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Lester; son, Steven; grandsons: Jonathon Erickson and Jesse Tollakson; brothers: Herman (Lois) Nyberg and Irving (Elaine) Nyberg; and sisters: Sylvia (Glenn) Dunham, baby sister, Verna Nyberg; and ten of Lester's siblings and their spouses.
