Agnes Janke

September 19, 1909 — April 6, 1995

Agnes Janke, of Montevideo, died on Thursday April 6, 1995 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 85.  Funeral services will be conducted on Monday April 10, 1995 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Warren Broughton and Rev. Douglas Olson officiating.  Burial will be in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Agnes Myrtle (Anderson) Janke was born on September 19, 1909 in Lac Qui Parle Co., Minnesota to Anders and Hannah Anderson.  She was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1929.  She was united in marriage to Reuben Janke on November 9, 1938 at her family home.  She worked as a waitress in Montevideo for over 40 years, working at Jeb's Cafe, The Bungalow, and the Mohawk Restaurant.  She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Montevideo and it's Altar Guild, the VFW Auxillary, Sons of Norway, BPW and worked at the Bloodmobile.  She enjoyed baking, crocheting, quilting, lefse making, camping, and taking care of her grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter Jane Ellefson and her husband Merlin  of Dawson, Mn.; by a son Ronald Janke and his wife Pat of Montevideo,Mn.; by grandchildren - Troy Ellefson of Dayton, Mn.; Tamara Schulenberg of Waconia, Mn.; Teresa Lynne of Clarkfield, Mn.; Tonia Ellefson of Burnsville, Mn.; and Jennifer  and Robyn Janke of St. Paul, Mn.; 5 great grandchildren; by a sister - Marion Gustafson of Hanley Falls, Mn.; by brothers - A. Clifford Anderson of Montevideo, Mn. and Gordon R. Anderson of Hanley Falls, Mn.;  by several nieces and nephews; and by several sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband  Reuben in 1970, and by a twin sister - Myrtle Agnes  Anderson in Infancy.
