Agnes Amanda (Olson) Ostenson

Agnes Ostenson, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, November 18, 1999 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 94.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, November 21, 1999 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Michael Briggs officiating.  Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.  Anderson Funeral Home of Montevideo was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Agnes Amanda (Olson) Ostenson was born on September 13, 1905 in Big Bend Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Albert and Andrea (Volgurson) Olson.  She was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church.  On September 15, 1923 she was united in marriage to Arthur C. Ostenson in Benson, MN.  They farmed near Milan, MN until 1946 when they moved to Montevideo.  She was currently a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home.  She was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and worked in the Housekeeping Department at Luther Haven Nursing home for over 20 years.  She enjoyed playing organ and was well-known for making lefse and her special occasion cakes.  Her small dogs were her “special buddies”.

She is survived by daughters - Ardis Feldhake of Montevideo, MN and Emogene Anderson and her husband Larry of St. Paul, MN; a daughter-in-law - Betty Ostenson of Montevideo; 17 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 7 great, great grandchildren as well as by numerous nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur in 1960, by sons - Warner, Lew Eldon & Dennis Ostenson; by an infant daughter - Vionne Ostenson; by a grandson - Larry Ostenson; a great grandson - Cody Ostenson; brothers - Clarence, Oliver, James & Henry Olson and by sisters - Cora Thompson, Mabel Harstad & Marie Schneiderman.
