Agnes Amalia (Hegg) Vik

Montevideo

Agnes Vik, of Montevideo, died on Sunday, July 11, 2004 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 92.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at 10:30 A.M. at Jevnaker Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Gregory Gabriel officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening and with the family from 5 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo..

Agnes Amalia. Vik was born on February 12, 1912 in Bricelyn, MN to Andrew and Anna (Ness) Hegg.  She was baptized on April 14, 1912 in Frost, MN, was confirmed in Waubun, MN in 1928 and graduated from Waubun High School.  On April 2, 1937 she was united in marriage to Arne Walter Vik in Winger, MN.  They lived in Waubun until moving to a farm in Grace Township of Chippewa County in 1942.  Following her husband’s death in 1973 she lived in Montevideo and Benson and has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home for the past 4 years.  She was a long-time member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church and its women’s groups, a birthday club and a homemakers club.  She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing doing hand work and being with her family.
She is survived by a son, James Vik and his wife Elaine of Montevideo; a daughter, Shirley Rode and her husband Jerry of Benson, MN; grandchildren: Jeff (Pam)Vik, Pauline (Bill) Kratz, David Vik, Cindy (Tim) Walsh, Brad (Chauntel) Rode, Dawn (Mike) Grossman, and Aimee (Jeff) Dale; great-grandchildren: Amanda and Peter Grossman, Courtney and Ashley Rode, Stephanie Wrobleski, Barry Walsh, Kelsey and Cody Dale, Danielle and Megan Vik, Lauren and Melanie Schwitters, Lauren and Britta Kratz, and Adam and Joshua Monson; one great-great-granddaughter, Madison Wrobleski;  two brothers: Erling Hegg and his wife Gloria of Togo, MN  and  James Hegg of Myrtle Beach, SC; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arne in 1973; two brothers: Lloyd and Leif Hegg;  two sisters: Hazel Allen and Amelia  Maruska; and a daughter-in-law, Wanda Vik.
