Alfa Myhre, of Montevideo, died on Sunday, November 24, 2002 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 88.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at 1:00 P.M. at Jevnaker Lutheran Church with Rev. Gregory Gabriel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday from 5-8:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M.
Alfa Mathilda (Nokleby) Myhre was born on March 27, 1914 in Mandt Township of Chippewa County, MN the daughter of Andrew and Alma (Christenson) Nokleby. She was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church and attended rural schools. On May 14, 1941 she was united in marriage to Oscar Myhre in Mandt Township. She was a lifelong resident of rural Montevideo. Alfa moved into Montevideo in 1996. She spent a short time at the Clara City Nursing Home before moving to Luther Haven Nursing Home in the summer of 1997. She is a life-long member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid, and was a member of Homemakers and the VFW Auxiliary. Alfa enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, doing handwork, and spending time with her family
She is survived by two sons: Wayne Myhre and his wife Pat of Montevideo, MN and Larry Myhre and his wife Carol of Lake Forest, IL; four grandchildren: Lisa (Robert) Steinke of Clearwater, MN, Stacey (Eric) Boike of Montevideo, MN, Ryan (Holly) Myhre of Oconomowoc, WI and Daniel Myhre of Milwaukee, WI; two great-grandchildren: Nickolaus and Karina Steinke; one sister, Olivia Eriksen of Apple Valley, MN; three nieces and numerous cousins..
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Oscar in 1969; and one grandson, Scott Myhre in 1987.
