Alfred Ingvold Femrite

August 26, 1902 — December 29, 1999

Alfred Ingvold Femrite was born on August 26, 1902, in Riverside Township,Lac Qui Parle County,  rural Dawson, to John I. and Mary (Olson) Femrite.  He was baptized and confirmed at Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church, where he was a lifetime member.  He attended country school at District #9 in Riverside Towhship and for a short time the Morris Ag School.
Alfred married Mabel Moen on December 30, 1936, at the Henry Lund home in rural Dawson.  To this union, two children were born: Arlys and Mahlon.
Alfred retired from active farming in 1971, moving to Dawson in 1992.  He became a resident of the Johnson Memorial Home in May of 1998, and remained there until his death on Wednesday, December 29, 1999, at the age of 97.
Alfred loved farming.  In his younger years his other interests included fishing, hunting, and trapping.  He also enjoyed singing on the tractor, playing cards, watching sports, but, most of all just being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel; children: Arlys (Todd) Buer of rural Dawson and Mahlon (Arlyce) Femrite of Excelsior; 8 grandchildren: Brett (Rose) Buer, Kari Buer, Troy Buer, Shane (Jill) Buer, and Heath Buer, and Scott Femrite, Lisa Femrite, and Steven Femrite; sisters: Mabel Femrite of the Johnson Memorial Home and Alice Svendsen of Dawson; brothers: George Femrite, Sr. of the Johnson Memorial Home and Lester (Florence) Femrite of Dawson; brothers-in-law: Ray Strom of rural Dawson and Simon (Helen) Moen of Milan; sisters-in-law: Selma Femrite and Edna Halling of the Johnson Memorial Home and Muriel Moen of Madison; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Manford Femrite; sisters: Olive Trelstad, Wilma (Charlie) Nelson, and Inez Strom; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
