Alfred Kurtzbein, 89, died August 18, 1994 at his home in Montevideo.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 20, 1994 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Rev. Roger Rekstad will officiate and entombment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held Friday after 4:00 P.M. at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and at the church for one hour before services on Saturday.
Alfred Robert Kurtzbein was born July 4, 1905 in Yellow Medicine County, MN the son of Theadore and Augusta (Schwant) Kurtzbein. He attended school and grew to adulthood in Montevideo. He was united in marriage with Frances Folk in Milbank, SD on November 14, 1928. He did road construction for a number of years and also worked as a brakeman and conductor on the Milwaukee Road from 1943 until his retirement in 1959. Following his retirement, he enjoyed gardening and had a bee and honey business. Frances died in 1985.
He is survived by one son, Bob and his wife June of Montevideo, MN; four daughters: Ardell Collins and her husband Floyd of Milton-Freewater, OR, Diane Wadsworth and her husband Allen of Alturas, CA, Liz Carneiro of Coeur-d'Alene, ID, and Karen Matthews of Carbondale, KS; 27 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Frances; two sons: Alfred, Jr. and John; one granddaughter, Beth Krum; four brothers: Herbert, Earhart, Ervin, and Fred; and three sisters: Leone Wick, Elsie Schweig, and Minnie Kurtzbein.
