Funeral service was at 1:30PM, Monday, July 6, with Pastor Kendall Stelter, Pastor Lori Wold and Chaplain David Hall participating with organist, Deb Lewis accompanied the singing of "Precious Lord, Take My Hand", "Children of the Heavenly Father", "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace." Wayne Anderson, Ron Miller, and Dan, Dustin, Darcy and Darin Hillman were casketbearers and interment was in Grace Lutheran Cemetery. Alice Josephine Anderson was born on May 28, 1916, to Nels and Anna (Johnson) Bengtson in the Dawson Hospital in Dawson. She was baptized and confirmed at the Mission Covenant Church in rural Dawson. She attended school in Canby, graduating in 1935. In 1936, she went on to take nurses training at the Dawson Hospital, where she worked for 6 � years and then the Canby Hospital for 5 � years. Alice was married to Wallace G. Anderson on December 18, 1947, by Rev. Franklin at the Swedish Covenant Parsonage. One daughter, Cynthia, was born to them. She and her husband farmed for 35 years. After Wallace died on April 2, 1989, Alice moved to the Pleasant View Apartments for 5 years. In 1996, she entered the Madison Lutheran Home. She died there on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at the age of 93 years, 1 month and 3 days. She belonged to a homemakers group for several years, was a member of various circles of Grace Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School in her earlier years. She had been a member of Grace Lutheran Church since 1956. She had worked for several years for the Lac Qui Parle blood bank and also enjoyed flowers, gardening and having her grandchildren visit. Alice is survived by her one daughter, Cindi (Don) Hillman of West Fargo, ND; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren: Dan Hillman, Darcy Hillman and her three children, Tyler, Alyssa and Brandt, Darin Hillman and Dustin (Michele) Hillman; sister, Ann Miller of Madison; brother-in-law, John Lair of Billings, MT and sister-in-law, Rita Bengtson of Breckenridge, MN; nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Wallace; brothers: Oscar and Harry Bengtson; sisters: Margaret Smith and Karen Lair; and brothers-in-law: Bill Smith and Lloyd Miller.
