Alice Lien, 88, of Maynard, died February 12, 1996 at the Clara City Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 16, at 1:30 P.M. at Wang Lutheran Church, rural Maynard. Rev. Martin Lucin will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and with the family present from 7-8:00 P.M. There will also be visitation at the church for one hour before services on Friday.
Alice Bertina Hoverstad was born December 9, 1907 in Chippewa County, MN, the daughter of Andrew and Berthe (Lerohl) Hoverstad. She was baptized and confirmed at Maynard Lutheran Church. Alice attended normal training at St. Cloud Teachers College and taught school in Asbury before her marriage. She was united in marriage with Bernard Lien April 4, 1931 at Maynard. They made their home on a farm in Wang Township, Renville County, MN. Alice was a member of Wang Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was in the Ladies Aid. She moved to the Clara City Nursing Home in 1989. Bernard died May 23, 1994.
She is survived by three children: Robert Lien and his wife Donna Mae of Maynard, MN, Doris Brambilla and her husband Jack of Shakopee, MN, and Gladys Ann Gronewold of Montevideo, MN; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Bernard; one brother, Thorsten Hoverstad; and one son-in-law, Peter Gronewold.
