Alice Moen, formerly of Montevideo, died on Sunday, January 26, 1997 at the Clara City Nursing Home at the age of 90.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 29, 1997 at 1:30 PM at Watson Lutheran Church in Watson with Rev. Robert Rendahl officiating. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening and with the family from 6:30 - 7:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and for one hour prior to services at the church.
Alice Martha (Griffin) Moen was born on August 31, 1906 in Montevideo, MN to Lee and Edith (Taylor) Griffin. She graduated from Montevideo High School in 1924. She was united in marriage to Ragnar Moen on Feb. 10, 1929 in Watson, MN. Following their marriage, they lived for a time in Watson, MN, Montevideo, MN and Mason City, IA before moving to Mankato in 1940. While living in Mankato, she graduated from Mankato State and taught at elementary schools in the Mankato area for several years. They returned to Montevideo in 1970, where she lived until becoming a resident of the Clara City Nursing Home in Clara City, MN. She was a member of the Watson Lutheran Church and had been a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Mankato. She loved to do handwork, including hardanger and crocheting.
Alice is survived by daughters - Pat Blom of Montevideo and Andrea Hollnagel of Tyrone, PA; a son - Paul (Carol) Moen of St. Paul, MN; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 3 great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ragnar in 1987, a son - John, a son-in-law - Harris Blom, and sisters - Geneva Harvey; Lola Sandry, and Evelyn Griffin.
