Alice Marie (Hoaas) Molden

Alice Molden, 77, died December 10, 1998 at the Swift County - Benson Hospital.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 14, 1998 at 10:30 A.M. at Big Bend Lutheran Church.  Rev. Corey Fuhrman officiated and interment was in the church cemetery.

Alice Marie (Hoaas) Molden was born May 8, 1921 in Tunsberg Township, Chippewa County, MN the daughter of Ole and Clara (Struxness) Hoaas.  She was baptized at  Zion Lutheran Church near Watson, MN and was confirmed on May 19, 1935 at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, MN.  Alice graduated from Appleton High School.  She was united in marriage with Robert Friedrich in 1941 and he died in 1948.  She was later united in marriage with Eugene G. Molden on July 21, 1961 at Big Bend Lutheran Church.  She attended Willmar Community College for one year, graduating on July 23, 1963. She operated Alice’s Beauty Nook in Hagen, MN for many years and also ran the Hagen Store with her husband for many years.  She moved into Montevideo in 1994 where she was a beautician at Brookside Manor.  Alice moved to Benson in August.  She was a member of Big Bend Lutheran Church, church circles, was a Sunday School teacher and was a member of the Sons of Norway.  She enjoyed to crochet, watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Twins baseball games, dancing, visiting, helping people, cooking, and bowling.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene of Benson, MN; one daughter, Kylene Marie Ahrndt and her husband Larry of Benson, MN;  two grandchildren: Trevor Ahrndt and his wife Jean and Anthony Ahrndt and his fiancé Amanda Ellsworth; two great-grandchildren: Brianna and Dylan Ahrndt; two brothers: John (Delores) Hoaas of Montevideo, MN and Oscar Hoaas of Montevideo, MN; six sisters: Lillian Gjerset of Montevideo, MN , Olga Torgerson of Montevideo, MN, Gladys Wagner of Superior, WI, Florence Barnes of Bloomington, MN, Della Schneider of Montevideo, MN, and Helen (Roger) Rear of Montevideo, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her first husband, Robert Friedrich; two sisters: Clarice Harlow and Grace in infancy; and aunts and uncles.
