Alice May (Schaffer) Peterson

Alice Peterson, of Montevideo and formerly of Lac Qui Parle Village, died Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at Rosewood Assisted Living in Montevideo at the age of 92.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2005 at 2:00 PM at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church rural Dawson, MN with   Rev. Ivan Wambheim officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening and with the family from 5-7:00 PM at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Alice May (Schaffer) Peterson was born on March 26, 1913 in Canby, MN the daughter of Lee and Alice (Sloan) Schaffer.  She was confirmed at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church and graduated from High School in Morris.  She was united in marriage with Olaf Peterson December 1, 1936 at Milbank, SD. They lived at Lac qui Parle Village before moving to Montevideo in 1974.  She had been living at Rosewood Assisted Living for the past two years.  Alice was a provider of adult foster care.  She enjoyed reading, sewing, and card playing.  She was a member of Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church and Circle.
She is survived by four children: Sonia Larson of Rock Falls, IL, Allan Peterson and his wife Carol of Lac qui Parle, MN, Leita Dvergsten and her husband Lee of Proctor, MN , and Debra Ochsendorf of Lac qui Parle, MN; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Muriel Beattie of Dawson, MN.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her step-mother, Belvina Schaffer; her husband, Olaf; one son, Dennis Peterson; and one son-in-law, James Larson.
