Alice Elvina (Adamson) Schmidt

January 20, 1906 — June 20, 1993

Alice Elvina (Adamson) Schmidt was born on January 20, 1906 in Camp Release Township of Lac Qui Parle Co., Minnesota to Fred and Mary Adamson.  She moved with her family to Watson,Mn. in 1917.  She graduated from Montevideo High School in 1923, attended Bible School at the Holiness Methodist School of Theology for a year,   and received her teacher's certificate from St. Cloud Teachers College in 1927. She later attended Moorhead State Teachers College for further education. She taught rural schools in Chippewa Co. for 5 years and taught in the Watson Public Schools for 5 years  before teaching for 10 years at Wesley Bible College.In 1952 she returned to Watson to care for her mother.  During the next 11 years she cared for other elderly people in her home.  She was united in marriage to Walter Schmidt on November 29, 1955 at her home in Watson.  They lived together for 35 years until Walter's death in 1991.  She was an active member of the Watson Evengelical Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher, church treasurer, and a trustee.  She was a member of WCTU and has led a women's Bible study since 1944.
Elvina died on June 20, 1993 at the Clara City Nursing Home at the age of 87.  She is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host  of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Walter in 1991, by a brother - Arthur, and by an infant sister.
