Alice Edith (Lyngen) Winters

Montevideo

Alice E. Winters of Montevideo died on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at the Chippewa County- Montevideo Hospital at the  age of 99.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at 10:00 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo  with Rev. Gregory Gabriel officiating.  Interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens of rural Montevideo. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening with the family from 5-7:00 PM  at the Anderson Funeral Home.

Alice Edith Winters was born March 5, 1906 in West Bank Township, Swift County, MN the daughter of Andrew and Antonette (Nordby) Lyngen.  She was baptized at Big Bend Lutheran Church on March 20, 1906 and confirmed at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan on November 14, 1920.  She resided in Milan until 1938 when she moved to Montevideo.  Alice was united in marriage to Everett Winters on June 12, 1938 in Milbank, SD.  Alice did house cleaning for several local businesses and families over the years.  She was a homemaker that loved to cook and bake.  Her other interest was reading.  Alice was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church.  Alice lived in her own apartment until last Friday.

She is survived by two sons: Curtis Winters and his wife Sue of Montevideo, MN, and Wayne Winters of Montevideo, MN; one daughter-in-law, Beverly Winters of Montevideo, MN; one son-in-law, Dennis Arends of Montevideo, MN; seven grandchildren: Jared and Virginia Winters, Alan and Jamie (Jennifer) Winters, Daniella (Matthew) Schroeder, Randy (Jodi) and Scott Arends; 11  great-grandchildren: Rick, Lori, Racquel, Marisa, Dain, Martin, Dean, Julie, Daytona, Christopher, and Christina; and one brother: Sibert Lyngen of Montevideo, MN.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Everett in 1983; son, Jonathan Winters in 2004; daughter, Gloria Arends in 2005; two grandchildren: Michelle and Shaun Winters; two sisters: Julia Stokke and Hilda Strand; and three brothers: Henry, George and Alfred Lyngen.
