Allan Peterson

Allan Peterson of Lac qui Parle Village died on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the Appleton Care Center at the age of 82.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church rural Dawson with Rev. Matt Danielson officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 from 5 to 7 PM at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Allan Peterson was born on February 25, 1941 to Olaf and Alice (Schaffer) Peterson in Dawson, MN.  He grew up in Lac qui Parle Village.    At an early age he went into the auto salvage business and made that his life work.  He married Carol Sandberg in August 1977.

Besides his life’s work Allen enjoyed horses, Harley Davidson and old western movies.  He loved a good meal and could be found attending auction sales in the area and beyond.  He had a passion for trucks.  Allan enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Allan is survived by his children: Robin (Steve) Waege, Scott Peterson; step-daughter, Dayna (Mike) Adrian; grandchildren: Joel Foss, Cortney (Nicole) Foss, Jacie (Mike) Blenker, Dylan Lemcke, Nick (Tammy) Rice, Travis  (Maranda) Peterson, April Peterson; great-grandchildren: Brady and Joey Foss, Abigail and Hailie Blenker, Kaden, Colson, Cooper and Kinsley Rice, Amaya and Branson Peterson; sisters: Debra Ochsendorf, Leita (Lee) Dvergsten; and his dog Riley;  as well as extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol; brother Dennis Peterson and sister, Sonja Larson.
