Allen Dale died Friday, January 27, 2017 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson, MN at the age of 90.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Pastor Kendall Stelter will officiate and interment will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 5-7:00 PM at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.
Allen LeRoy Dale was born November 27, 1926 in Cerro Gordo Township, Lac qui Parle County, MN the son of George and Bessie (Bennett) Dale. He was baptized and confirmed at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church. He attended Dist. 6 rural school and graduated from Dawson High School in 1944. Allen farmed until he entered the US Army in 1951 where he served in the 369 Amphibious Engineers at Fort Worden, WA. He received the Army Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal while stationed at the Aberdeen proving grounds and also the citation of honor student in the welding school. On November 22, 1952 he was united in marriage with Eileen Kvaal at Bethany Lutheran Church in St. Paul. They lived in St. Paul for awhile before moving to Dawson where he started farming. Allen was a member of the Ateller Lodge 202 of Dawson, a life member of the Zion Commendary of Minneapolis, Oscar-Lee American Legion Post 177 of Dawson for over 60 years, and DAV. He was a past commander of the American Legion Post 177 and Coop Credit Union board member. They owned and operated Dale’s Drive-Inn for 13 years. Allen farmed with his son David until he retired. The love of his life, Eileen died April 21, 2015.
He is survived by his children: David (Nadene) Dale of Dawson, Kathy Dale of Harrisburg, PA, Pam Dale of Willmar, and Terry (Vicky) Dale of Dawson; seven grandchildren: Arron (Mike), Corey (Sarah), Jaime (Ryan), Stacy (Bob), Nathan, Lindsey (Chris), and Mark (Missy); great-grandchildren: Kayden, Jaxson, Brynn, Madison, Austin, Bennett, Jason and Belle; a sister, Elsie (Duane) Thoms of Burnsville; and 3 brothers-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Eileen; two grandsons: John Allen and Michael “Mickie” Patrick Terek; a sister, Marian Luznicky; and 2 brothers-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law.
