Allen Olson

Allen Olson, of rural Watson, died on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St Cloud, MN at the age of 84. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Watson with Rev. Cathie Rhodes officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 7 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Allen Lloyd Olson was born on December 19, 1927 in Swift Co., MN to Oliver and Annie (Running) Olson. He was baptized at Big Bend Lutheran Church and confirmed at Watson Lutheran Church. He attended rural schools and graduated from Milan High School in 1946. On October 2, 1950 he was united in marriage to Joan Torgerson. He was a life long farmer in Big Bend and Tunsberg Townships. He was a member of Big Bend and Zion Lutheran Churches and was a member of the Zion Restoration Society. He enjoyed rural life, hunting, reading, history - especially about World War II, threshing shows, antique cars and tractors and spending time with his grandsons. He is survived by two sons: Bruce Olson of Montevideo, MN and Richard (and Gwen) Olson of Milan, MN; two grandsons; Jack and Alex Olson; brothers: Gene Olson of Hailey, ID; Vernon (and Velma) Olson of Granite Falls, MN and Kenneth (and Rochelle) Olson of Lewistown, MT; a sister, Alvera (and Ralph) Johnson of Willmar, MN; a sister-in-law, Delores Olson of Bird Island, MN as well as by a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joan in 1995 a brother Wendell and a sister-in-law, Pat Olson.
