Alta Jean (Dawson) Reigstad

Jean Reigstad, of Watson, died on Wednesday, June 2, 1999 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 62.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, June 7, 1999 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Montevideo with Pastor Ron Snyder officiating.  Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Alta Jean (Dawson) Reigstad was born on April 21, 1937 in Grace Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Elkin and Irene (Smith) Dawson.  She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Watson.  She attended rural schools in Grace and Tunsberg Townships and graduated from Milan High School in 1955.  On April 24, 1968 she was united in marriage to Gary Reigstad in South Dakota.  They lived in Willmar and Montevideo for a number of years before moving to the Watson, MN area.  She did restaurant work for many years including several years at Firefly Creek Casino before she was forced to retire due to health in September of 1996.  She enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, writing letters, cooking, rummage sales, crocheting, needlework and hand crafting and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Gary; by children - Terry (Becky) Johnson of Dawson, MN; Greg (Terina) Johnson of Long Prairie, MN; Randy (Linda) Johnson of Montevideo; Rodney (Sarah) Johnson of Pawahton, VA; Bradley (Susie) Johnson of Lawrenceville, GA; Jody Johnson and friend Katie of Montevideo; Elkin (Shelley) Reigstad of Montevideo and Jill (Ken) Unzen of Montevideo; 22 grandchildren; her mother and stepfather - Irene and Willford Anderson of Swift Falls, MN;  4 brothers - Elkin (Judy) Dawson of Bullshoals, AR; Gale (Laurie) Dawson of Brooklyn Park, MN; Gilbert Dawson of Annandale, MN and Wesley (Pam) Dawson of Champlin, MN; by a sister - Beverly (Richard) Leaf of Swift Falls, MN; as well as by aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, grandparents, a grandson and 2 uncles.
