Alvena Tangeman, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, May 2, 2000 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 6, 2000 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Leo Deitemeyer officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
Alvena (Frey) Tangeman was born on August 10, 1904 in Melvin, IA to Frank and Marie (Graves) Frey. She was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Melvin, IA in October of 1904 and attended rural schools. On March 23, 1923 she was united in marriage to Oscar Tangeman at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Allendorf, IA. In 1924 they moved to the Montevideo, MN area and lived on a farm in Rosewood Township. In October of 1948 she was confirmed at Brono Lutheran Church. In 1952 they moved into Montevideo. She has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home for the past 1 ½ years. She was a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and it’s Ladies Aid and had been a member of homemakers. She enjoyed sewing and growing flowers.
Alvena is survived by one son, Marvin Tangeman and his wife Audrey of Victoria, MN; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oscar in 1974; and two brothers: Arnold and Ralph Frey.
