Alvin Kruse, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, February 27, 1997 at the Franklin Nursing Home in Franklin, MN at the age of 62.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, March 3, 1997 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Leo Deitemeyer officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation was Sunday afternoon and evening, with the family from 3 - 5 PM and with a prayer service at 4 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Alvin Edmund Kruse was born on October 22, 1934 in Willow Lake Township of Redwood County, MN to George and Esther (Fennern) Kruse. He was baptized on November 4, 1934 and confirmed on May 21, 1948 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Willow Lake Township. He attended rural schools in Willow Lake Township and graduated from Wabasso High School in 1952. He also attended Mankato Commercial College. He was united in marriage to Fern Lemcke on November 20, 1954 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Vesta, MN. Alvin worked for Zieske's Lumber Yard in Wabasso, MN; Taylor's Lumber in Marshall, MN; Jordan Millwork in Sioux Falls, SD and Watertown, SD for almost 28 years; and then worked with his brother, Herb, as a carpenter for 5 1/2 years before retiring in 1993. He served as church chairman, Elder, Treasurer, usher, youth counselor, was on the building committee and sang in the choir at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Watertown, SD and served on the Lay Ministry Board of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo, of which he was a current member. He enjoyed watching sports, playing baseball and golf, and enjoyed playing cards. He loved his grandchildren and being with friends and relatives.
He is survived by his wife, Fern; one daughter, Gail Wegner and her husband Edward of Watertown, SD; one son Michael Kruse and his fiance Sharon Berndt of Eagan, MN; two grandchildren: Landon and Larin Wegner; one sister, Irma Bierman and her husband Wallace of Jeffers, MN; four brothers: Louis Kruse and his wife Janice of Winsted, MN, Luvern Kruse and his wife Esther of Pipestone, MN, Herbert Kruse and his wife Arleen of Clarkfield, MN, and Delbert Kruse and his wife Geri of Stillwater, MN; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
