Alvin Ost, of Montevideo, died on Monday October 28, 1996 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 88.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday October 31, 1996 at 1:30 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening and with the family from 7 - 8 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Alvin Clarence Ost was born on May 21, 1908 in Sparta Township of Chippewa Co., Minnesota to Herman and Dora (Weckwerth) Ost. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sparta Township and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. He attended Montevideo schools and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1927. He was united in marriage to Irene Wik on June 12, 1937 at the Our Savior's Lutheran parsonage. He farmed for many years before retiring. He also served as a substitute rural mail carrier for 47 years. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, served on the Chippewa Fair Board, was a member of the Sparta Town Board for over 40 years, was a member of the County Association of Township Officers, a member of the State Township Association, and was a long-time member of the Odd Fellows.
He is survived by his wife - Irene; a son - Wayne Ost of Willmar, MN; a sister - Irene Wolff of Montevideo; as well as by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
