Andrew "Andy" Hendrickson

Andrew "Andy" Hendrickson, of Montevideo, died on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the Chippewa Co-Montevideo Hospital at the age of 92. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 1:30 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran church in Montevideo with Rev. Kathy Skoglund officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home. Andrew Harold Hendrickson was born on August 17, 1918 in Chippewa Co., MN to P.M. "Mike" and Anna (Nelson) Hendrickson. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and graduated from Montevideo High School. On July 9, 1944 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Borgendale at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter. They farmed in Sparta Township for a number of years before moving into Montevideo in 1963. He worked at several agriculture related jobs in Montevideo, the latest being at Offerman Hatchery. He moved to Brookside Manor in 1998 and to the Luther Haven Nursing Home about three years ago. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he sang in the church choir for many years and held several offices, including Sunday School Superintendent and teacher. He sang in the Fiesta City Chorus and with barbershop quartets, including the Four Gramps. He had been a member of the Fair Board. He loved music and singing, going to Trailways for coffee, woodworking, playing cards and sharing his practical jokes and toys. He was especially proud of his family and loved to keep up with their activities. He is survived by five children: Daryl Hendrickson and his wife Judi of Melrose, MN, Nancy Pedersen and her husband Gary of Minneapolis, MN, Ed Hendrickson and his wife Karen of Panama City Beach, FL, Ann Olson and her husband Doug of Oakdale, MN, and Karen Lettau and her husband Mike of Montevideo, MN; nine grandchildren: Amy (Jon) Weisenburger, Leah (Brian) Ahneman, Erika Pedersen, Benjamin Pedersen, Ryan Hendrickson, Michelle (Chris) Jansen, Heidi (Dustin) Hanson, Jason Lettau and Shaun (Chali)Lettau; nine great grandchildren: Carter, Marissa, Kaya, Jacob, Laura, Andrew, Nicole, Blake and Cole; as well as by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dorothy in 2000; one granddaughter, Dawn Hendrickson; a brother, Bertram Hendrickson; a sister Margaret Milbrath and by a brother Edward and a sister Irene in infancy.
