Anna Steffenson, 101, of Montevideo, died Thursday, October 10, 2002 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 14, 2002 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter. Rev. Roger K. Olness officiated and interment was in the church cemetery.
Anna Catherina (Haugen) Steffenson was born November 14, 1900 in Lac Qui Parle Township, Lac Qui Parle County, MN the daughter of Amund and Elisabeth (Schall) Haugen. She attended rural school and grew to adulthood there. She was united in marriage with Sophus Steffenson November 16, 1921 at Dawson, MN. They made their home in the Montevideo area and farmed in Lac Qui Parle County. She played organ and her husband played violin at dances for many years. Anna enjoyed gardening, she was a good seamstress, and did lots of quilting at church.
She is survived by two daughters: Avis Hendrickson of Montevideo, MN and Sylvia Anderson and her husband Clifford of Montevideo, MN; 11 grandchildren: Sharon (Ron) Cramlet, Ardis (Robert) Johnson, Rodney Hendrickson, Ellen Hendrickson, Cathy (Steve) Strand, Mark (Rommell) Hendrickson, Conrad (Deb) Anderson, AlRoy Anderson, Cynthia (Mark) Johnson, Steven (Dianne) Anderson, and Shelley Anderson; 21 great-grandchildren: Leah, Lynnae, Laura, Eric, Jennifer, Shawna, Tim, TaBrae, Stephanie, Hayley, Caitlin, Matthew, Michele, Alanna, Ross, Zach, Stacy, Lisa, Aaron, Jordan, and Blake; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Sophus on January 20, 1961; one son-in-law, Sheldon Hendrickson; five brothers: Andrew Haugen, Henry Haugen, George Haugen, William Haugen, and Lloyd Haugen; and one sister, Ellanora Haugen.
