Ardis Estling, of Boyd, died on Monday August 2, 2010 at her home at the age of 80. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd with Rev. Lori Wold officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 PM and with a prayer service at 7 P.M., all at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Ardis Jeanette (Gilsrud) Estling was born on April 1, 1930 in Montevideo, MN to Fred and Amanda (Hermanson) Gilsrud. She was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1948. On April 15, 1951 she was united in marriage to Owen Estling at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Watson. She lived her entire married life in the Boyd, MN area. She was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and active in its women's activities. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Boyd, the VFW Auxiliary in Dawson and had been active in a homemakers club. She loved watching and identifying birds, especially gold finches, orioles and cardinals, going for walks outdoors, traveling and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Owen; two sons: Gerald (and Linda) Estling of Boyd, MN and David (and Carla) Estling of Dawson, MN; six grandchildren: Courtney (Troy) Hanson of Hancock, MN, Jason (Tracy) Estling of Wood Lake, MN, Jeremy Estling of Boyd, MN, Troy (Amy) Estling of Clarkfield, MN, Trevor Estling of Boyd, MN and Travis Estling of Montevideo, MN; six great-grandchildren: Claire, Carlee and Rylee Hanson, Bryce Estling and Allison and Alivia Estling; three sisters-in-law: Charlotte Gilsrud of Houston, MN, Lorraine Gilsrud of Bloomington, MN and Sharon Gilsrud of Longville, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and three bothers: Vernon, DuWayne, and Ronald Gilsrud.
