Ardis Olson, of Montevideo, died Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Hennepin County Medical Center at the age of 89.
Memorial services will be held Monday, December 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo. Pastor John Runyan will officiate and interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Monday, December 2.
Ardis Mae Elaine (Sillman) Olson was born June 5, 1930 in Canby, MN the daughter of Leo and Palma (Johnson) Sillman. Her father was killed in an automobile accident when she was young and her mother married Herman Sillman. Ardis went to work at the hospital in Montevideo in 1946. She was united in marriage with Ervin Olson February 2, 1948 in Kennedy, TX. After a short time in Decatur, IL they returned to Montevideo in 1949. They lived in town for a few years before moving to the farm north of Montevideo where her yard was full of flowers. They moved into Montevideo in 2006 where she continued her tradition of caring for many beautiful flowers. Ardis worked at Aldrid’s and Donald’s for Women before working at JcPenney for 19 years. She later worked at Pamida and WalMart before retiring in 2008. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She spent her entire life caring for people.
She is survived by two daughters: Sandy Killian of Montevideo and Bonnie (Alan) Johnson of Hastings; six grandchildren: Michael Sabegh, Rhonda (Carey) Jahnke, Andrea (Tom) Linkert, Tony (Ann) Olson, Tracy (Aaron) Viehauser, and Jessica (Adam) Rothstein; twelve great-grandchildren: Xaiveyer Humphrey, Dylan Killian, Ryan Linkert, Alex Linkert, Bria Rothstein, Kylie Rothstein, Huntley Rothstein, Danielle Olson, Tyler Olson, Jasmine Bombeck, Mitchell Bombeck, and Dylan Lockengard; two great-great-grandchildren: Brayden and Mariah Mathern; three brothers: Lyle (Gini) Sillman of Aberdeen, SD, Paul (Geri) Sillman of Aberdeen, SD, and Ron (Jackie) Sillman of St. Clair, MN; three sisters: Phyllis (Les) Ferguson of Elk River, Susie (Bob) Buttdahl of Bloomington, and Arlene Schoephoerster of Wheaton; two sisters-in-law: Jeri Sillman of Luverne and Mary Nelson of Oakdale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding were her parents; her husband, Ervin in 2014; her son Gary in 1989; a son-in-law, John Killian; two brothers: Russell Sillman and Bud Sillman; two sisters: Delores (Melvin) Hanson and Lorraine (Jim) Bohms; and a brother-in-law, Ron Schoephoerster.
