Ardys Zimmerman, of Montevideo, died on Monday, July 12, 2010 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 83. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 1:30 P.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Robert Friedrich officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5:30 - 7 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Ardys June (Tischer) Zimmerman was born on June 1, 1927 in Chippewa Co., MN to William and Mattie (Tebben) Tischer. She grew up in the Maynard area and attended rural schools. On April 4, 1948 she was united in marriage to Charles Zimmerman at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. She lived her entire married life in Montevideo. She lived for thirteen years at Parkview Towers and had recently become a resident at Luther Haven Nursing Home. She was a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, canning, gardening. bowling, golfing, dancing, collecting items and the music of Elvis and Danny O'Donnell. She is survived by five children: Sandra (and Glenn) Strube of Mayer, MN; Steven (and Joy) Zimmerman of Faribault, MN Charlee (and Harland) Strube of Princeton, MN; Denise (and Thomas) Christenson of Montevideo and Gaylen Zimmerman of Burnsville, MN; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Tischer of California; two sisters, Betty Zimmerman of Delano, MN and Phyllis Vivion of Willmar, MN, as well as by a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles in 1977, one grandchild; 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Robert and Leo Tischer and by a sister, Doris Barnard.
