Argina (Snelling) Streed

Milan

Argina Streed, of Milan, died on Thursday, March 28, 2002 at the Appleton Nursing Home at the age of 101.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at 10:30 A.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Wayne Anderson officiating.  Burial was in the church cemetery.

Argina (Snelling) Streed was born December 31, 1900 in West Bank Township, Swift County, MN the daughter of Anders and Kari (Moen) Snelling.  She was baptized and confirmed in the West Bank Lutheran Church and attended school at District 85 in West Bank Township.  After her 8th grade graduation, Argina helped out at home and did housework for others.  On January 20, 1921, Argina was united in marriage with Eric Streed in Montevideo by Rev. John Mason.  To this union three children were born: Ernest, Florence, and Raymond.  In 1934 a daughter, Hazel, came to join the family and was later adopted.  Argina and Eric farmed in the Milan area for about 25 years and later moved to Milan and became owners of Streed Service.  After Eric’s death in 1977, Argina moved to the Kleven Apartments in Milan and had been a resident of the Appleton Nursing Home for the past 1 ½ years.  She was a member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church and its WELCA group.  She taught Sunday school and religious education classes for several years.  She was a member of the Milan Senior Citizens group, a bible study group, and a sewing club.  Argina enjoyed crocheting and coffee visits with her family and friends.

She is survived by two sons: Ernest Streed and his wife Arlene of Milan, MN and Raymond Streed and his wife Fern of Milan, MN; one son-in-law, Ralph Haugen of Plymouth, MN; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Eric; two daughters: Florence Streed and Hazel Haugen; three brothers: Peter, John, and Oscar Snelling; and two sisters: Clara Olson and Lydia Olson.
