Arlene Norman, of Montevideo, died on Friday, April 9, 2010 at her home a the age of 81. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Saron Lutheran Church with Rev. Lori Wold officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 7 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Arlene Lois (Saltee) Norman was born on March 31, 1929 in Burr, Mn to Lars and Hulda (Brandt) Saltee. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Canby. She graduated from Canby High School and attended General Beattle State College in Madison, SD. On June 20, 1948 she was united in marriage to Howard Norman at St. Stephens Lutheran Church. She lived all her married life on the Norman Family Farm. She taught rural school for two years in Duell Co., SD, worked at Luther Haven Nursing Home for ten years, the Wegdahl Elevator for five years, worked at Countryside Public Health for fifteen years and continued to do home health care.. She was a long time member of Saron Lutheran Church and was a member of the Fiesta Flora Society, Chit Chat Homemakers V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Jolly Dollies Red Hats. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, dancing, playing dominoes and being with her family. She is survived by children: Diana (and Richard) Heitkamp of Annandale, MN; Judy (and Larrie) Bostrom of Alexandria, MN and Steve (and Vicki) Norman of Montevideo; a very special addition to the Norman Family, Ernest (and Judy) Morgan of Brooklyn Park, MN; grandchildren: Fred (and Tammy) Heitkamp and their children Emily and David; Alicia (and Heath) Gillham and their children Hunter and Ashley; Heather (and John) Lanari and their children Isabelle, Abigail, Anthony, Autumn, Olivia, and Avery; Angela (and Cory) Berglin and their children Natalie, Nicole, Noah, Nick and Nevan; Timothy (and Lisa) Bostrom and their children Dakota, Marah, Brooklyn and Reese; Holly (and Jaden) Schwendemann and their children Skyler and Emma and Joe (and Kelsey) Norman and expecting an October baby; a brother Robert (and Jan) Tesch of Omaha, NE; sisters: Marilyn Baerenwald of Montevideo and Jean (and Vernon) Hanson of Canby, MN; a sister-in-law, Margaret Saltee of Lake Cochran, SD, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard in 1983, a grandson, Ole Norman in 1996; a brother, Leroy Saltee; sisters: Mildred Nomeland and Mavis Leese; brothers-in-law: Wesley Leese, Don Baerenwald and Cliff Nomeland and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alice and Hank Schaefer and Dorothy and Harlow Tesnow.
