Arlene Wanda (Christenson) Pitt

Montevideo

Arlene Pitt, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, July 2, 1998 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 63.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 7, 1998 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Leo Deitemeyer officiating.  Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Arlene Wanda (Christenson) Pitt was born on March 6, 1935 in Chippewa Co., MN to Casper and Inga (Peterson) Christenson.  She was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church. She attended rural schools and graduated from Benson High School in 1953.  She attended St. Cloud State, graduating with a degree in Elementary Education.  She was united in marriage to Edgar Pitt on November 24, 1955 at Jevnaker Lutheran Church. They lived in Havelock Township of Chippewa Co. until moving to Montevideo in 1982.  She taught school in Hector, MN, rural schools in Chippewa Co., Maynard, and at Ramsey School in Montevideo before retiring in 1992.  She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was active as a Sunday School teacher, a confirmation teacher and active in circle.  She was a member of the NEA and MEA and was a 4H leader.  Arlene enjoyed traveling and trips to the lake.  Family time was especially important to her and she loved teaching children.  She found much enjoyment in nature, especially bird watching.

She is survived by her husband - Edgar; by children - Jeffrey Pitt and his wife Cheryl of Willmar, MN; Pamela Eklund and her husband George of Montevideo; Sherry Hanson and her husband Tim of Willmar, MN and Kimberly Boike and her husband Rod of Montevideo; Grandchildren - Nathan and Christin Pitt; Kayla Eklund; Corey and Kari Hanson; and Erin and Evan Boike; by brothers - Art (Alice) Christenson of Montevideo; Selmer (Wilma) Christenson of Coon Rapids, MN and Milfred (Muriel) Christenson of Nebraska; sisters - Lois (Alfred) Hoefs of Cedar Mills, MN; Ione (Arnold) Seeman, Avis Kittelson and Barb (Doug) Bosch, all of Montevideo; by sisters-in-law - Norma Christenson of Montevideo and Joyce Christenson of Willmar, MN; by brothers-in-law - Roland Pitt of Montevideo and Gordon Pitt Coon Rapids, MN; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister - Elna Jacobson, brothers - Clifford, Delbert and Harold Christenson; brothers-in-law - Milton Jensen; James Moe; Duane Kittelson; and Morris Jacobson; as well as by several nieces and nephews.
