Arlene Skogrand, of Montevideo, died November 23, 2005 at the Meeker County Hospital in Litchfield at the age of 84.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, November 26, 2005 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. David Baumgarn officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening and with the family from 4 - 6 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Arlene Corrine (Mischke) Skogrand was born on March 18, 1921 in Austin, MN to Frederick and Lilly (Spenger) Mischke. As a child she moved with her family to Montevideo, where she graduated from Montevideo High School in 1940. She attended business school in Mankato for a year. In 1945 she met Clifford Skogrand, and they were united in marriage on February 24, 1946 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo. They made their home in Montevideo, where Arlene was a homemaker and worked at Montevideo High School for a number of years. She stayed active in her children’s lives including serving as a den mother and as a brownie and girl scout leader. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was a member and past-president of the VFW Auxiliary. She loved doing cross stitch, hardanger, embroidery, reading and visiting with friends. She had been a resident of the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield for 10 days before entering the hospital in Litchfield.
She is survived by four children: Ronnie Skogrand and his wife Sherry of Apple Valley, MN, Jeanne Peterson and her husband Terry of Litchfield, MN, William “Bill” Skogrand and Carol of Boise, ID, and Daniel Skogrand and his wife Connie of Boise, ID; ten grandchildren: Terrie and Jeff Grove, Natalie Tucker, Jessica Nelson, Stephan and Hannah Peterson, Joan Giles, Jammie Neal, Dawn Henderson, and Ali Skogrand; six great-grandchildren: Ana and Sophie Giles, Kyle and James Henderson, Garrett Nelson, and Zacharia Tucker; and special friends: Ida Marie Sletten and Ralph and Ada Hunstad.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford in 1993; four brothers-in-law: Arvid, Marlowe and L. Paul Skogrand and Ingvald Raffelson; and by a sister-in-law, Vivian Larson.
