Arlo Marienau died Monday, June 2, 2003 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 77.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 6, 2003 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. Leo Deitemeyer will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held Thursday afternoon and evening, with the family from 6 - 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Arlo Harold Marienau was born May 1, 1926 at Terril, IA, the son of Albert and Agnes (Straight) Marienau. He was baptized August 4, 1927 and confirmed March 17, 1940 at Spencer, IA. Arlo graduated from Spencer High School in 1943 and moved to the Montevideo area in 1944. He was united in marriage with Lorraine (Jorgenson) October 5, 1947 at St. Petri Lutheran Church near Montevideo. They farmed east of Montevideo until moving into Montevideo in 1995. He has been an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church since 1944, where he served on various church boards and as its treasurer. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, the trailer at the lake, woodworking, reading, and above all, his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; three daughters: Catherine Marienau of Oak Park, IL, Karen Marienau of Kaneohe, HI, and Lori Marienau Kittelson of Andover, MN; a son-in-law and friend, Craig Kittelson of Andover, MN; three grandchildren: Katy Marienau Kittelson, Rachel Marienau Kittelson, and Anna Marienau Roth; one sister, Ila Alesch of Royal, IA; and ten nieces: Carol, Sharon, Marlene, Donna, Jackie, Jan, Cheryl, Marcia, Linda, and Julie.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Cliff Marienau; one sister, Verna Spencer; and two nephews: Dick and Terry.
