Arne Jordahl, of Dawson, died Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Johnson Memorial Health Service in Dawson at the age of 96.
Funeral service was Friday, June 22, 2012, at 11:00 AM, at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Kendall Stelter officiated and organist, Chris Lehne accompanied the singing of “Children of the Heavenly Father”, “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” and “How Great Thou Art.” Ray Anderson, Mike Johnson, Stan Johnson, Gordy Jordahl, Gary Miller and Paul Miller were casketbearers and interment was in Grace Cemetery.
Visitation was at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.
Arne Jordahl was born September 5, 1915, in Maxwell Township, Lac qui Parle County, MN, the son of Ole and Bertha (Iverson) Jordahl. He was baptized October 30, 1915, and confirmed May 11, 1930, at Trinity Lutheran Church. He attended school in District 102. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Miller on February 22, 1945. To this union, Carol and Jon were born. They farmed in Cerro Gordo and Providence Townships, and after retiring from farming, they moved into a home in Dawson in 1990 and later, into the Prairie West Apartments. Arne was currently living at Prairie Meadows Assisted Living. He was active in the Farm Bureau and served the organization in various roles. He was a member at Grace Lutheran Church and served on the church council, was an usher, and attended men’s Bible study. They camped by Lake Andrew for many years. He enjoyed playing cards and visiting family and friends.
He is survived by a son, Jon Jordahl and wife, Joyce of Mounds View; grandson, Todd Jordahl of Roseville; brother, Phillip (Blanche) Jordahl of Dawson; sister, Alice Johnson of Madison; sister-in-law, Jean Jordahl of Forada; numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, other family and many friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Dorothy on June 27, 2010; daughter, Carol Joyce on September 1, 1954, from cystic fibrosis; two brothers: Thor and Carl; and four sisters: Anna Perkins, Olga Winge, Thelma Ritter, and Ruth Moen.
