Arne Kvaal, 52, of Montevideo died January 18, 1997 as the result of an accident at the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative in Renville.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 22, 1997 at 1:30 P.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. Richard Hamlow will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M.
Arne Marvin Kvaal was born March 26, 1944 at Dawson, MN the son of Harold and Minnie (Oppem) Kvaal. He was baptized and confirmed at Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church near Dawson and graduated from Dawson High School in 1962. Arne served in the US Air Force from 1963 until 1967. He was united in marriage with Barbara Weckwerth May 14, 1966 at Montevideo, MN. After his discharge from the Air Force, he attended Universal Trade School in Omaha, NE to learn air-conditioning, refrigeration, and heating. They lived in Omaha until moving to Watson in August of 1975 and to Montevideo in October of 1979. Arne was working as a fork lift operator at the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative in Renville. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the VFW and American Legion, and the Montevideo Volunteer Fire Department for the past 17 years. Arne enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; one son, Christopher Kvaal of Iowa City, IA; one daughter, Darla Kvaal and her fiance Jeff Marty of Montevideo, MN; two brothers: Claire Kvaal and his wife Mary of Willmar, MN and Sid Kvaal of Willmar, MN; one sister, Mary Hanson and her husband Lyle of Madison, MN; his mother-in-law, Charlotte Weckwerth of Montevideo, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his father-in-law, Lawrence Weckwerth.
