Arnold Adrian Gulden

August 15, 1937 — January 20, 2000

Montevideo

Arnold Gulden, of rural Montevideo, died on Thursday, January 20, 2000 at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 62.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 27, 2000 at 1:30 PM at Jevnaker Lutheran Church, rural Montevideo,  with Rev. Gregory Gabriel officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and for one hour prior to services at the church.  Anderson Funeral Home of Montevideo is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Arnold Adrian Gulden was born on August 15, 1937 in Montevideo, MN to Gustave and Evelyn (Skogrand) Gulden.  He was baptized on September 5, 1937 and confirmed on May 18, 1952, both at Jevnaker Lutheran Church.  He attended country school in District 63 in Mandt Township and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1955.  Friends and relatives sometimes called him “Stub”.  He lived and farmed in Mandt Township all his life, raising cattle, pigs and crops.  Arnie enjoyed tinkering with old tractors and was an active participant in the Minnesota Valley Antique Power Association in Montevideo, the Swift Co. Putts & Purrs in Benson and the Stearns Co. Pioneer Power in Albany .  He often did mechanical work and welding for neighbors and was handy with a pool cue.  He was lifelong member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church,  a charter member of the Board of Directors at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo,  belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles and belonged to the Minnesota Farmers Union.  He was an avid sportsman and was a member of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association, Pheasants Forever, The National Wild Turkey Federation, The Montevideo Rod & Gun Club and the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by 3 aunts - Hazel Phillips and her husband Clyde of Montevideo; Lillian Gulden of Montevideo and Mabel Sando of Grand Forks, ND, by 5 Skogrand cousins and their spouses and by 17 Gulden cousins and their spouses, as well as by their children.

He was preceded in death by his father Gustave in 1946 and by his mother Evelyn in 1997.

Arnie died at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN on January 20, 2000 as a result of a brain hemorrhage at the age of 62.  “Forget not, but smile in remembrance”.
