Arthur Agre, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, June 18, 2005 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 99.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 2:00 PM at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Dr. Mari Larson officiating. Interment will be in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening and with the family present from 5 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Arthur Jay Agre was born February 27, 1906 at Boyd, MN the son of Joseph and Anna (Estling) Agre. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd and attended rural schools. He was united in marriage with Florence Milbeck at Sacred Heart, MN on September 21, 1929. They lived at Wegdahl for 13 years before moving to Montevideo in 1942. He worked on road construction for several years, drove truck for the WPA, worked at Anderson Super Service for 17 years, and as custodian at REC until retirement. He was a member at the Senior Center and enjoyed fishing, hunting, horseshoe playing and league, playing pool and cards. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.
He is survived by five children: Ardis Eekhoff and her husband Pete of Montevideo, MN, Shirley Sachariason of Montevideo, MN, Lorraine Christians and her husband Lloyd of Watertown, SD, Beverly Linnee and her husband Roger of Gwinn, MI, and Marvin Agre and his wife Grace of Dawson, MN; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alvina Baker of Lindstrom, MN.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Florence, February 26, 1994; one son, Melbourne; one sister, Ruth Moseng; two brothers: Jennings Agre and Sydney Agre; and one son-in-law, DeWayne Sachariason.
