Ellis Reay, 87, of Montevideo died May 1, 1999 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 5, 1999 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  Rev. Lois D. Knutson will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with the family present from 6:30 - 8:00 P.M.

Arthur Ellis Reay was born September 20, 1911 at Plainfield, IL the son of Thomas and Jessie (Ellis) Reay.  He came to Leenthrop Township with his parents at the age of 6 months.  He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church and attended rural school in District 27.  Ellis was united in marriage with Amanda Jerve June 5, 1939 at Jevnaker Lutheran Church.  He farmed and lived on the family farm until moving to Montevideo in 1990.  Ellis enjoyed living at Brookside Manor for 2 ½ years before moving to Luther Haven in March of 1999.  Farming was his lifelong interest.  He was devoted to his family and friends and enjoyed visiting and playing cards.  Ellis enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing, and travel.  He served on the District 27 school board and the Leenthrop Township Board.  He won numerous Chippewa County corn husking contests in the 1930's and in later years he participated in several senior division contests.

He is survived by two daughters: Donna Ahrndt and her husband DuWayne of Deephaven, MN and Dianne Morlock and her husband Merrill of Montevideo, MN; four grandchildren: Mark Morlock of Montevideo, MN, Janette Ahrndt of Deephaven, MN, Brenda and Rick Files of McKinney, TX, and Marcy and Todd Welberg of Sauk Centre, MN; four great-grandchildren: Tyler and Christian Files and Nathan and Abby Welberg; one sister, Maybelle Mikelson of Clarkfield, MN; brothers and sisters-in-law: Oma Fairchild, Delores Winge, Evelyn Jerve, Ralph Moe, Jane Jerve, and Don Lausen; and nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Amanda in 1995; and one sister, Elizabeth York.
