Arvy Anderson, of rural Montevideo, died on Thursday, September 27, 2001 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 86.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, October 1, 2001 at 2:00 PM at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter with Rev. Steve Rheingans officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Arvy Leon Anderson was born on July 7, 1915 in Baxter Township of Lac Qui Parle Co., MN to Andrew L. and Laura (Mork) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter. He attended rural schools and Montevideo High School. He served in the US Army for four years during WW II, serving in Ireland, Italy and North Africa. On June 14, 1947 he was united in marriage to Betty Onken at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Nassau, MN. He farmed the family century farm until retiring in 1980. He served 18 years as Baxter Township Treasurer, held offices in his church and local school board and was a member of VFW Post 380 of Montevideo. He enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening and visiting friends and relatives. He has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home for the past two months.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; by a daughter, Lynette Moll and her husband Joseph of New Orleans, LA; a sister, Avis Hegland of Rochester, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Clinton and Reuben Anderson and by a sister Beatrice Anderson.
