Audrey Ess

Audrey Ess died Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson, MN at the age of 85.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 1:30 PM at Faith Lutheran Church in Madison.  Rev. Deborah Nissen and Rev. Mary Dodgson will officiate.  There will be visitation at the church for one hour before the service.  Arrangements are with Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.

Audrey Corryne Ess was born on June 12, 1933 in Stony Run Township, Yellow Medicine County, MN to Adolph and Norma (Larson) Rosetter.  She was baptized July 2, 1933 and confirmed December 17, 1947 at Bergen Lutheran Church.  She attended school in Marshall and graduated in 1951.   She was united in marriage with Robert “Buster” Skallerud August 7, 1954 in Madison and they had 3 daughters.

Audrey was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Madison and served as a confirmation mentor and lenten partner.  She also worked at the fair in the Faith Lutheran stand.  She enjoyed many activities: cooking, baking, lefse making, bridge, knitting, Skip-bo, yard and garden work, going to the casino, doing puzzles, playing golf and bowling.  One of her favorite things to do was to entertain family and friends.  She was united in marriage with Don Ess June 3, 1978 in Madison.

Audrey is survived by her husband, Don; her children: Sheryl Skallerud and special friend Harvey, Madison, Cindy (Douglas) Bork, Milbank, SD, Linda (Greg) Coil, Canby and step children: Greg, Bill (Arlene), Cindy, Tari (George); 6 grandchildren:  Nathan Bork, Tanner (Yuriko) Coil, Kelly (Dustin) Kallhoff, Sam (Ernesto) Skallerud, Tyson Coil and Tucker Coil; 5 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren: Parker, Laney, and Hanna; her brother: Roger (Jeanette) Rosetter, Minnetonka;  sisters: Arlys (Chuck) Skaug, Ham Lake, and Janet (Stan) Halverson, Palm Springs, CA; as well as other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Adolph and Norma Rosetter; former husband, Robert "Buster" Skallerud; and her niece LeAnn Skaug Behun.
