Augusta Wanke, formerly of Milan, died on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the Appleton Hospital at the age of 92. Memorial services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Cathie Rhodes officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the services at the church on Tuesday. Augusta Wilhelminia Ella (Frederick) Wanke was born on May 30, 1918 in Holloway, MN to Edward and Ida (Platow) Frederick. She was baptized on August 18, 1918 and later confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church near Holloway and attended rural school. On December 4, 1940 she was united in marriage to Gaylord Wanke at St John Lutheran Church. They lived in rural Appleton and Milan and in Milan. She has been a resident of the Appleton Nursing Home for the past five years. She was a member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church, where she was active in many activities. She enjoyed bingo, crafts, going to garage sales, knitting, crocheting, hardanger, painting, gardening and growing flowers. She is survived by two daughters: Mae (and Glen) Jorgenson of Clarkfield, MN and Marcella (and David) Augeson of Montevideo; eleven grandchildren: Gerald, Debra, Kenny, Jeff, Frank, Diane, Scott, Jeanette, Gene, Tom, and Kevin; thirteen great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Arthur Frederick of Willmar; a special niece, Corrine Hallaway of Appleton, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gaylord in 2002; five sisters: Alvina Leverenz, Martha Kittel, Annie Sturm, Amanda Hanson and Helen Olson; a great-grandson; two brothers: Arhart and Emil Frederick; and by Rose, Fred and August Frederick in infancy.
