Memorial service was at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 10, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastors Kendall Stelter and Lori Wold officiating and organist, Chris Lehne accompanying the singing of "How Great Thou Art", "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" and "Amazing Grace." Godchild, Jody Claassen was the urn bearer and burial was in Grace Lutheran Cemetery. Avis Louise Anderson was born on February 12, 1923, in Garfield Township, rural Madison, the daughter of Jacob T. and Nettie S. (Nelson) Buchmann. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and graduated from Dawson High School in 1940. Avis married Reynold Johnson and Virginia and Dean were born to this union. She later married Ordell Anderson and worked as the bookkeeper for Anderson Trucking. She also was a waitress at the City Cafe and Coop Cafe in Dawson, retiring in 2004. For the last 20 years she has lived at Golf View Apartments in Dawson. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, listening on the radio to worship services from Grace Lutheran Church, and especially, spending time with her nieces and nephews. Avis died suddenly on Thursday, August 6, 2009, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 24 days. She is survived by her two sisters: Dorothy Anderson of Dawson and Frances Christensen of Fridley; very special friend, Donna Weidenbach of Madison; 5 nieces and nephews, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Virginia Ann Johnson on May 11, 1944; son Dean Johnson on February 6, 1970; husband, Ordell on January 31, 1978; brother and sister-in-law, Harland and Clarice Buchmann; sister and brother-in-law, Minerva and Eugene Montague; and brother-in-law, Silas Anderson
