Avis Kittelson, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, December 2, 2000 in Alexandria, MN at the age of 68.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 5, 2000 at 1:30 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Warren Broughton and Rev. Douglas Olson officiating. Burial will be in the Bergen Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Avis June (Christenson) Kittelson was born on June 26, 1932 in Montevideo, MN to Casper and Inga (Pederson) Christenson. She was baptized at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church in rural Montevideo. She attended schools at District #64 in Chippewa County and later obtained her GED. She was united in marriage to James Moe on March 6, 1948. Following his death in 1971, she was united in marriage to Duane Kittelson on February 19, 1972. They farmed in Yellow Medicine County until moving to Lac Qui Parle County in 1989 and retiring from farming in 1990. She moved into Montevideo in 1996. She had been a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Watson, Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo, Bergen Lutheran Church and was currently a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She was a circle member, a Sunday School teacher, a member of Homemakers and a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed travel and family time.
She is survived by seven children: Marcella Hagen and her husband Robert of Montevideo, MN, Carol Smith and her husband Arnold of Benson, MN, Luetta Ellingson and husband Gregory of Milan, MN, Bruce Moe and his wife Wendy of Brainerd, MN, Paul Moe and his wife Brenda of Alexandria, MN, Gary Moe and his wife Katharine of Alexandria, MN, and Kevin Moe and his fiancé Julie Olson of Montevideo, MN; 12 grandchildren; 4 great- grandchildren; two brothers: Selmer (Wilma) Christenson of Coon Rapids, MN and Milfred (Murial) Christenson of Lincoln, NE; three sisters: Lois (Alfred) Hoefs of Hutchinson, MN, Ione (Arnold) Seeman of Montevideo, MN, and Barbara (Douglas) Bosch of Montevideo, MN; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husbands: James Moe in 1971 and Duane Kittelson in 1996; four children in infancy; two sisters: Elna Jacobson and Arlene Pitt; and four brothers: Clifford , Delbert, Arthur and Harold Christenson.
