Axel Larson

January 31, 1907 — May 21, 1994


Axel Larson, of Montevideo died on Saturday May 21 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 87.  Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday May 24 at 1:30 P.M. at Jevnaker Lutheran Church with Rev. Gregory Gabriel officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening and with the family from 7 - 8 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Axel Henry Larson was born on January 31, 1907 in Mandt Township of Chippewa Co., Minnesota to Ludvig and Olava Larson.  He was baptized on March 17, 1907 at Immanuel Lutheran Church and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church on November 6, 1921.He attended rural schools.  He was united in marriage to Ethel Thompson on September 15, 1930. She died in 1938.  He was united in marriage to Gladyce Lynne on Dec. 31, 1941 at the Big Bend Lutheran Parsonage.  He farmed in Mandt Township until moving to Montevideo in 1979.  He was active in the Soil Conservation Service for over 25 years and ASC and RC & D for over 20 years.  He was a lifelong member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church.  He was curently a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.

Axel died on Saturday May 21, 1994 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 87.  He is survived by his wife Gladyce; by a daughter - Vangie Parker of Minneapolis; 1 granddaughter; 3 great grandchildren; by brothers - Lawrence Larson,
Orice Larson, and Vernon Larson - all of Montevideo; as well as by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his first wife Ethel in 1938, and by a son - Arlo in 1934.
