Barbara Jean (Doesken) Draeger

Clara City, MN

Barbara Draeger, of Montevideo and formerly of Clara City, died on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at the Clara City Care Center at the age of 77.  Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 22, 2007 at 10:30 AM at Hope Reformed Church in Montevideo with Pastor Michael Altena officiating.  Interment will be in the Bethany Reformed Cemetery in Clara City.  Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening, with the family present from 3 - 5 PM and with a prayer service at 5 PM, all at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and for one hour prior to services at the church.

Barbara Jean (Doesken) Draeger was born on October 31, 1929 in Crate Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Ben and Ella (Koster) Doesken.  She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City, Mn and graduated from Clara City High School. On October 10, 1947 she was united in marriage to Marvin Draeger at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City.  They farmed north of Clara City for 30 years before moving to Montevideo in 1980. She was currently a member of Hope Reformed Church in Montevideo and had been a member of Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. She enjoyed being with her family, rug weaving, music, sewing and especially reading.

She is survived by four children: Trudy (and James) Knoop of Montevideo; Shirley (and David) Knoop of Willmar, MN; Faye (and Bradley) Berghuis of Park Rapids, MN and Richard Draeger of St. Cloud, MN; ten grandchildren: Erik (and Mandy) Knoop, Michael (and Colleen) Knoop, Andrea (and Troy) Thomsen, Kimberly (and James) Neubauer, Matthew (and Kim) Berghuis, Jessica (and Greg) Mumm, Meagan (and Ryan) Leckner, Tony Berghuis, Ben Draeger, and Ryan (and Alicia) Draeger; twelve great-grandchildren; a sister, Tillie Prekker of Clara City, MN as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin in 2006, 3 brothers: Ed, Harry and Bert Doesken and by a sister, Viola Stewart.
