Belma Feist, of Montevideo, died on Friday, March 9, 2007 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 93. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee and Rev. Marie Eckberg officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening with the family being present from 6 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Belma H (Ellingson) Feist was born on September 14, 1913 in Boyd, MN to Emil and Ida (Kise) Ellingson. She was baptized in Dawson, MN and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd, MN. She attended Boyd Public Schools. On December 18, 1929 she was united in marriage to Clarence Feist in Clear Lake, SD. She has lived for nearly 60 years in Montevideo and has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home for the past 8 ½ years .She was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and had been active in women’s groups, ladies choir and teaching Sunday School. She was also active in the VFW Auxiliary, having served a term as president. Her joys included flowers and gardening, playing bridge and entertaining. She was also a Gold Star Mother.
She is survived by sons Michael (and Veronica) of Porterfield, WI and Eugene (and Barb) of Clarkfield, MN; daughters: LaVila Hanson of Green Valley, AZ and Margaret (Tom) LaVrar of Fairfield, CA; 16 grandchildren and numerous great and great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence in 1988; a son, Bobby Feist; a daughter, Lois Martin; a grandson, Bobby Martin; a granddaughter, Michelle Feist.and sisters: Beulah Bennett; Vernice Daukus; Ilene Olsen; Lorraine Leavenworth; Doris Benson and Marcella Schulke.
